About Herbasin Products

12. What is GMP standard?
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is a system ensuring that products are consistently produced and controlled according to certain quality standards. It is designed to minimize the risks involved in any pharmaceutical production that cannot be eliminated through testing the final product. The main risks are: 1) Unexpected contamination of products, causing damage to health or even death; 2) Incorrect labels on containers, which could mean that patients receive the wrong medicine; 3) Insufficient or too much active ingredient, resulting in ineffective treatment or adverse effects. GMP covers all aspects of production; from the starting materials, buildings and equipment to the training and personal hygiene of staff. Detailed, written procedures are essential for each process that could affect the quality of the finished product. There must be systems to provide documented proof that correct procedures are consistently followed at each step in the manufacturing process - every time a product is made.

19. What is the "Geo-Authentic Herb"?
A “Geo-Authentic Herb” is generated from a high quality species with regional characteristics and grown in specific areas. It contains higher active ingredients and consequently has more outstanding functions in clinical treatment than the common herb. It’s very important to know where the herb comes from and the environment it was raised in because this will have an effect of its active ingredients and properties. This will also affect its clinical usage. The term “Geo-Authentic Herb” is a well known phrase in China.
20. What outstanding characteristics do “Geo-Authentic Herbs” contain?

There are seven advantages of a Geo-Authentic Herb when compared to common herbs:
1) Specific area of production
2) Pure species
3) Clear characteristics

5) Rich content of other active ingredients
6) Less in toxicity
7) Remarkable functions
8) Most of them is organic herbs.

21. Does the Geo-Authentic Herb have any influence on the herb’s quality?
According to expert’ research, genuine herbs have much more influence on the herb’s quality. Above all, it has a much higher content of active ingredients than the common ones. For example, the proportion of essential oil of Dong Quai (0.625%) in Gansu is higher than the one in Sichuan (0.28%); Phenoals in Houpu (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis) from Sichuan is 6 times as the one from Jiangxi; the Catalpol in Dihuang (Radix Rehmanniae) is 24 times of that from Shandong. Though some common herbs are higher in the main ingredient content than the Genuine Herb, they still lack the other active ingredients while the genuine herb is rich in them. Furthermore, the toxicity of the genuine herb is the smallest among all of the species. Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata), for example, in Yunnan is 18 times more toxic then the genuine one from Sichuan province.
In one word, the “genuine” herb is the key factor in influencing the herb’s quality and only the “genuine” herb will have such great efficacy during any treatment.

23. Do your herbs are sulfur free?
If the part of the herb that is used is the root, bark, twig, etc. it’s better to make a decoction. The standard procedure is to use 1 oz. of the dried herb in 4 cups of water. Heat the herbs, in a pyrex or other non-metal saucepan, in cold water. Bring this to a boil and simmer for about 20 minutes or until the liquid has been reduced by about one third. Then strain the decoction through a sieve and drink it warm.
