According to expert’ research, genuine herbs have much more influence on the herb’s quality. Above all, it has a much higher content of active ingredients than the common ones. For example, the proportion of essential oil of Dong Quai (0.625%) in Gansu is higher than the one in Sichuan (0.28%); Phenoals in Houpu (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis) from Sichuan is 6 times as the one from Jiangxi; the Catalpol in Dihuang (Radix Rehmanniae) is 24 times of that from Shandong. Though some common herbs are higher in the main ingredient content than the Genuine Herb, they still lack the other active ingredients while the genuine herb is rich in them. Furthermore, the toxicity of the genuine herb is the smallest among all of the species. Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata), for example, in Yunnan is 18 times more toxic then the genuine one from Sichuan province.
In one word, the “genuine” herb is the key factor in influencing the herb’s quality and only the “genuine” herb will have such great efficacy during any treatment. |
