7. How do I make a decoction?
If the part of the herb that is used is the root, bark, twig, etc. it’s better to make a decoction. The standard procedure is to use 1 oz. of the dried herb in 4 cups of water. Heat the herbs, in a pyrex or other non-metal saucepan, in cold water. Bring this to a boil and simmer for about 20 minutes or until the liquid has been reduced by about one third. Then strain the decoction through a sieve and drink it warm.
8. How do I make an infusion?

An infusion is used with herbs that have volatile oils or will break apart easily in water like soft leaves or flowers. By making an infusion the herbs readily release their active ingredients easily into the water.
To make an infusion, generally speaking, you would use approximately 1oz of dried or 3oz of fresh herb to 1 pint of boiling water. Put the herbs into a pyrex or other (not metal) container and pour the hot water over the herbs. Cover this and allow the herbs to steep for 10~15 minutes and then strain off the herbs. This may be drunk hot or cold.

9. Where do I store the herbs?
Herbs should be stored in a cool, dark, ventilated closet away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight which reduces an herb’s potency and flavor rapidly. You should not store dried herbs by freezing them due to the moisture, from condensation, that happens and adversely affects the herbs. Different herbs should be stored separately to avoid their essential scent from contaminating other herbs.
10. What’s the herbs shelf life?
Dried Herbs – 3 years | Herbal Extracts – 3 years | Seeds – 3 years
11. Would you please list some frequent unit conversion?

1 pound = 16 ounces | 1 pound = 453.6 grams = 0.4536 kilogram
1 ounce = 28.35 grams = 0.028 kilogram | 1 kilogram = 2.2 pounds
